Civil Litigation

Litigator – A lawyer who prepares cases for trial, by conducting discovery and pre-trial motions, trying cases, and handling appeals.
– Black’s Law Dictionary

Civil litigation deals with disputes between individuals or organizations, in which compensation may be awarded to the victim if victorious in a lawsuit. An individual may bring a lawsuit against another person when they believe that they have been wronged, or that they have had their rights violated in some way.

Civil law covers a broad variety of substantive areas of law. Civil law courts provide a forum for deciding disputes involving torts (such as accidents, negligence, and libel), contract disputes, the probate of wills, trusts, property disputes, administrative law, commercial law, and any other private matters that involve private parties and other groups, including government institutions. Anyone who has been harmed or suffered damages due to the acts (or failure to act) of another may sue that other person to recover their loss.
